Choreography and Demonstration
Like a Bull in a Candy Store was commissioned by the Department of Theatre and the Orchesis Student Dance Society at Michigan State University. Costumed in dress that suggested French upper-class in the era of Marie Antionette, this piece explored the dynamics of a community and the dichotomy of human nature.
Let’s Play is currently in construction at Michigan State University, commissioned by the Department of Theatre and Orchesis Student Dance Society. In this excerpt, you see a rough draft of the initial phrases performed by Heather Vaughan-Southard (on right, in black and white) and a student. The premise of this work follows the “theory of flow” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, learning styles, and the role of play in development.
2x5x3 explored traditions within family and dance contexts through ritual, commonality, shared experience, and personal narrative. Commissioned by Michigan State University’s Department of Theatre and Orchesis Student Dance Society, this work featured digital landscapes created by Genesis Garza inspired by natural elements in response to elements within relationships.
